What is The Wellcome Trust? The Wellcome Trust is the UK's largest charity. It funds biomedical research to improve human and animal health, both in the UK and internationally.
What is The Wellcome Trust's connection with Hanley Grange? The Wellcome Trust owns around 270 acres of land on the Hanley Grange site. The proposed Hanley Grange town is 927 acres for 8,000 houses (source: the Developer's website here).
The Wellcome Trust say it has been approached to see if it wishes to be part of the eco-town development.
The Developer's have said publicly that if Wellcome decides not to be part of the development, then Hanley Grange could not go ahead.
Has Wellcome Trust made a decision about Hanley Grange? Yes! It was announced today (Wednesday, 16th July) that they have decided not to go ahead with Hanley Grange.
The Trust had commissioned an independent survey to seek opinion on the need for local housing in the South Cambridgeshire area.
We have been asked by many supporters for The Wellcome Trust contact details. If you would like to write to Wellcome Trust with your views, you can write to Sir William Castell LVO, Chairman of the Board of Governors or Mark Walport, Chief Executive.
