To support the Stop Hanley Grange Campaign, we have also set up a Facebook group called Stop Hanley Grange (unsurprisingly). In a little over two weeks this group has attracted over 2,400 members (and growing). The members of the group include people who oppose the development but feel unable to contribute in other ways to the campaign such as school children and teenagers. The group has also helped the message to reach people all over the world with members based in Dubai, New Zealand, the USA and Hong Kong to name but a few who may otherwise not been made aware of the development. It has also attracted the attention of local media and was featured in an interview on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire Support on Facebook for the Stop Hanley Grange campaign comes not only from local residents but from people with ties to the area (some were born here and moved away, some studied here), people all over the country who oppose the Eco-towns model in general and people with no links to the area who are outraged that Tesco is now trying to move into building our communities and towns. There is a lively discussion board (over 920 posts to date) allowing people to air their concerns and opinions and to learn more about the proposed development and all members are encourage to sign both the 10 Downing Street petition and the Stop Hanley Grange Campaign's own petition which they seem to be doing. Please join the debate and encourage your friends, children and colleagues to come along and help this part of the protest. If you are new to Facebook just go to www.facebook.com and register. Then simply enter "Stop Hanley Grange" into the search box and click on the "join this group" option on the right-hand menu. If you already have a Facebook account just click here to go straight to the group. |
